With the hot summer days getting shorter by the weeks and we start to turn the page into the season we call fall, Raymond West gives fans and new listeners a mixtape to help turn that page and close out the summer months. Jerseys & Convertibles cruises into the function being backed by three previous singles in “Smoke out the Roof”, “4 You” and “Carphones & Beepers”, bringing along four new songs for your listening pleasure.
The New Orleans bred artist can be found riding comfortably in the driver seat of his whip as he glides through the mixtape with ease, taking the drive slow and at his own pace letting no friend or foe get in the way of his peace and rhymes. The artist snags Big Chief as the lone feature on the project, providing his flow on two of the 7 tracks. Chief and Raymond keep their carphones and beepers handy as they smoke out the roof all while the smooth yet cool production keeps the engine from becoming over heated due to the bars that are being said on their collaborative efforts.
Raymond West speaks highly on his current lifestyle throughout the tape, from his views of life to what he eats and what he maneuvers around the city in. The artist keeps the ladies around due to how he presents himself through his style of clothing he wears and with those “big cuts” around his arm, but he isn’t suicidal so there’s no need to be alarmed. Not to mention how easy it is for him to go about his day on the outro “Sweat$“, making it seem as if he doesn’t pay to much attention to any worries or negativity and even gas prices, he just rocks his sweats and keeps to himself. “I wanted to do a song about my everyday simple life, highlight the regular shit instead of all the flashy shit, I can wear sweats with every outfit” says West when speaking about the track.
Jerseys & Convertibles provides production that may take you back to the 90’s/early 2000’s but doesn’t shy away from clever rhyme schemes and bars which makes it even easier to enjoy when playing back the entire set of sounds. You can bump the project on all streaming platforms but you can do so below via Spotify and Apple Music. Be sure to follow Raymond West on Instagram as well.
